Established in 2019 in the City of York, JM Engineering Consultants.... INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS

Established in 2019 in the City of York by Jack Merrett, JME Consultants were created with a Customer First philosophy in mind. Jack wanted to offer a fresh approach to customer relationships by providing an approachable and friendly consultancy dedicated to delivering high quality innovative solutions at affordable prices.

Having worked for a range of small to medium sized consultancy firms on a wide variety of projects including residential, commercial, educational, industrial, refurbishment, rail and energy, Jack achieved Chartered status in 2018 through the Institution of Structural Engineers. He felt that the time was right to set up his own consultancy in 2019 and to organically grow the new business through his Customer First philosophy.

We are keen to develop and expand the consultancy and would love to hear from you if you are in need of any Structural Engineering advice or design.

We are affiliated with both the Institution of Structural Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers.

We offer practical structural design and detailing for a wide variety of projects. This includes (but is not limited to) new build residential and commercial properties; residential and commercial extensions; remedial work; structural foundation design (sizing, layouts and depths); retaining walls; new steel framed structures; extensions and alterations to existing steel framed structures; reinforced concrete structures; masonry and timber structures; structural assessment of existing structures.

Our calculation packages are completed to current Codes of Practise and are suitable for Building Control submission. Drawings are produced in full CAD format to ensure clarity for both the client and contractor.

We carry comprehensive Professional Indemnity Insurance to help ensure peace of mind for all our clients.

Our Core Values are what we pride ourselves on. At JME Consultants we have three core values which we always strive to adhere to:

1. The project and client is at the heart of everything we do

We understand that to each and every client, their project is extremely important to them no matter the size. We will always act in the best interest of the project and client by giving clear, concise advice and delivering projects swiftly to the highest standards.

2. To act with integrity and transparency

We will never knowingly undertake any unnecessary consultancy work. We are transparent in what we do and will do all we can to ensure our clients understand the scope of works, what we will be delivering and the cost of the aforementioned work. Should consultancy work outside of our area of knowledge be required, we will advise the client that this is the case. We will try to either offer alternatives or point them in the direction of other practices who may be able to undertake this work.

3. To be approachable and supportive

Being an approachable and supportive consultancy is extremely important to us. We want to build positive relationships with clients and maintain them for years to come. We aim to achieve this by always being there for our clients.

Are you an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer who also shares these values and are keen to work in this way? If so, why not get in touch and see if we can make this happen.
